Author Billy Moore read excerpts from two of his young adult novels, Cracker's Mule and Little Brother Real Snake, to 7th graders on the Renegades team. Cracker's Mule is the story of a boy who spends the summer with his grandparents and unwittingly buys a blind mule at an auction. He suffers ridicule while caring for the animal he comes to love. Little Brother Real Snake is a tale of a Red Squirrel, an Indian youth, who learns lessons from his elders and wins the hand of the lovely Pale Moon. Mr. Moore also spoke to the students about writing a manuscript and explained the process of getting published. His books range from $10.95-12.95 and may be ordered through the school library. The library will also have copies available for check-out.
